Discover Traditional Kimono for Daily Life – in Sendai

Welcome to Sanmonjiya Kimono Store in Sendai
We are Sanmonjiya Kimono Store, a long-established kimono shop founded in 1897, located in the Clisroad Shopping Street—just a just a 5-minute walk from Sendai Station in Aoba Ward.
The Clisroad Shopping Street is beautifully decorated with colorful Tanabata streamers during the Sendai Tanabata Festival, held in August, one of the most famous summer events in Japan. The area comes alive with many visitors from both Japan and abroad, creating a festive and vibrant atmosphere.
At Sanmonjiya, we offer a wide range of kimono—from casual styles for everyday wear to formal pieces for special occasions. We aim to make kimono culture more accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Whether you’re purchasing your first kimono or just curious about traditional Japanese clothing, we welcome you to visit and explore at your own pace.
Seasonal Highlights
In summer, our tenugui (traditional Japanese hand towels) and jinbei (lightweight cotton wear) are especially popular for their comfort and stylish patterns—perfect for hot weather or as unique souvenirs.
In winter, hanten (padded jackets) are a favorite among international visitors, offering warmth and a traditional Japanese design that fits well into modern life.
We hope to support the kimono lifestyle of the local community in Sendai and to share the charm of Japanese tradition with visitors from around the world.
Please note: We do not offer kimono rental or dressing services.
